Campaign victory for Kingsmead residents

13 January 2015 at 00:00:00

Over 100 residents from the Kingsmead Estate came together to demand Sanctuary Housing take action on long term problems affecting the estate. The problems include blocked drains, unfinished repairs and a lack of investment.

Residents and local councillors Tom Rahilly, Rebecca Rennison and Sharon Patrick met with the Managing Director of Sanctuary Housing, Simon Clark and his team to convey their concerns.

Following the meeting, Sanctuary committed to working with residents to improve life on the estate. There will be a dedicated team reporting back on improvements in three months.

Sanctuary also committed to increase cleaning and maintenance, tackle anti-social behaviour and introduce regular communication with residents.

The meeting followed an earlier campaign where I worked with residents and local councillors.

This shows the difference that the Labour Party working in partnership with local residents can make. I look forward to seeing them deliver their promises.
