27 September 2013 at 00:00:00

The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority has voted to approve the final version of the fifth London Safety Plan.

The authority needed to find savings of £45 million from its annual budget and this plan is expected to save the authority £29 million.

The new plan will come into effect from January 2014 and includes the closure of ten fire stations, reducing the number of fire engines and the introduction of alternate crewing arrangements at some stations.
