The All-Party Parliamentary Cycling Group (APPG) held its first evidence session of the 'Get Britain Cycling' inquiry last week. The APPG, of which Meg is a co-vice chair, has been examining the barriers that are preventing more people cycling in the UK.
The first evidence session, which focused on the strategy needed to encourage more people to cycle, was a huge success. The panel heard from a variety of witnesses including journalists, representatives from cycling groups and independent experts.
The session also generated huge public attention on Twitter, with the #getbritaincycling hashtag peaking as the top trending hashtag in the UK throughout the morning.
The live blog, which will be used at all the sessions, was also very popular with over 500 people visiting the live blog throughout the session.
The next session will be held on Wednesday 30th January and will focus on the safety aspects and perceived risks associated with cycling. You can get involved on Twitter by following the APPG at @allpartycycling and using the hashtag #getbritaincycling. Alternatively, you can follow the live blog by clicking here
