Give NANA a home campaign

18 October 2013 at 00:00:00

NANA is a new food and craft café hosted by older ladies. They currently have a building but it needs some work to turn it into a proper café.

The aim of NANA is to give retired ladies a chance to get out of the house and chat to customers whilst producing delicious food.

Older ladies who are over 65 and who are looking for something to do with their free time volunteer to work one shift a week in the cafe.

Since December last year the group have been trialing the concept in a local pub and its success has meant that NANA is looking for a more permanent home.

The group have taken out a lease on a old public toilet and have already begun work to transform the space into a café.

Together with the Clapton Improvement Society they have already made progress but are asking for help from the public to finish off the café and buy furniture.

They are using Kickstarter to raise the additional funds offering various prizes depending on how much individuals donate.

You can find out more about the project here.
