Meg's Pledges for Hackney

Some of you will have received a leaflet from me in the post this week.

Here are my top 5 pledges for Hackney South and Shoreditch. For detail on other party policies please visit the Labour Party website here

My pledges to you:

HEALTH: 20,000 more nurses, 8,000 more GPs, a GP appointment within 48hrs and a focus on mental health.

HOUSING: Scrap the hated Bedroom Tax, build more affordable homes, secure longer-term private tenancies and ban rip-off letting fees.

CHILDCARE: 25 hours free childcare a week for 3 and 4 year olds and guaranteed 8am to 6pm childcare for primary pupils.

ECONOMY: Balance the books and invest in infrastructure. Create a level playing field for British companies and a fair deal for taxpayers by tackling tax avoidance and giving workers more rights especially over zero hours contracts

IN THE WORKPLACE: A guaranteed job for young people after a year out of work. Longer and better paternity leave for fathers.
