Official Opening of Refurbished St Joseph's Hospice

This month I officially opened the new ground floor and reception area at St Joseph's Hospice.
St Joseph’s Hospice set out to serve Hackney and East London people 109 years ago. Despite misconceptions, Hackney is still a borough with great poverty and the hospice continues to serve the community, who I am sure will use its excellent new cafe and meeting space every day.
The improvements made to the hospice are outstanding. The ground floor is now a more friendly area with additional seating. It is also a flexible space that can provide a range of activities including live music, talks and community and social events. The Information and Advice Service has been relocated to the ground floor, making it much easier for people to get to.
New facilities include a children's play area, a new café which is open to the public Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, that will rival any high street coffee shop, and an exhibition area that allows the hospice to display work from local and national artists as well as art works created by hospice patients and Happy Crafters members.
