Brexit Bill

Archive

14/03/17

After months of silence and inaction over Brexit the Government was forced into giving Parliament a vote.

Hackney voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU and since the referendum I have had people ringing my office in tears because they are worried about their future.

The Government rejected calls to guarantee the future of EU citizens, maintain access to the single market and to allow Parliament a meaningful vote on the deal.

I voted against the Bill at all stages.

Now the bill has passed into law, the Prime Minister will trigger article 50 and our fate will be in the hands of the other 27 member states who make a decision without us at the table.
