Campaign for safer holidays

Meg is supporting a campaign for safer holidays set up by the mother of Eden Galvani Skeete who died last year in a tragic fire accident on holiday in Turkey.

The Eden Trust campaign for safer holidays was launched in Westminster on Thursday 19th July.

The trust has been set up to campaign to ensure all holiday companies, tour operators and individuals who own and let holiday properties abroad have an obligation to ensure the safety of their guests through safe accommodation, entertainment and resources; to make sure EU safety standards are reached at properties within the EU and to provide information for holidaymakers prior to travel about the risks.

Meg said, “Not all accidents are avoidable but this one was. People booking holidays should be aware that even if booked through a British agency, not all British health and safety regulations apply. I will be working cross party with other MPs to see that this is put right.”
