Caring for Hackney

Meg visited the City and Hackney Carers Centre at their new premises in Dalston today.

The centre provides both emotional and practical support for carers in east London.

The centre celebrated with a day of entertainment from around the world including Bollywood dancing and a Turkish Bazaar.

Meg said: “It’s great to have a centrally located centre to offer support to carers. Sometimes all a carer needs is a quick bit of advice, other times more intense support and I’m delighted to support it.”

There are six million carers in the UK providing unpaid care for relatives, partners and friends who are ill, disabled or have mental health problems.

City and Hackney Carers Centre provides benefit and welfare advice and counselling, therapies and advocacy for all unpaid carers over the age of 16.
