Free prescriptions for cancer patients

Archive

31/05/09

In January the Government introduced regulations to make prescriptions free for people being treated for cancer.

The scheme will be available to those holding a medical exemption certificate and patients will be able to collect certificate application forms from their GP surgery or oncology clinics. Free prescriptions will start from 1 April and will be open to anyone who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.

The new scheme is expected to benefit up to 150,000 people.
