Meg today welcomed the announcement that two Hackney theatres have signed up to the Government's free theatre scheme which is offering 618,000 free theatre tickets across England for the next two years.
Both the Hackney Empire and Arcola Theatre will be offering free theatre tickets for under 26 year olds.
Meg met with culture secretary Andy Burnham to celebrate the news. Meg said, "I am delighted that the Hackney Empire and Arcola Theatre have taken up this scheme. It is so important that young people have the chance to go to the theatre.
This scheme will also support our local theatres at a difficult time. Our theatres are real gems and this scheme helps spread the word."
