Gayhurst Primary bring their I Like Clean Air performance to Parliament

I was delighted to host Gayhurst Community Primary School and the British Lung Foundation in Parliament to discuss air quality around schools.

The primary school children performed their anti-pollution song in front of MPs to raises awareness of air pollution and its public health impact especially on primary school children.

The 'I Like Clean Air' campaign was set up in 2014 by Hackney parents concerned about the impact of poor air quality on their children’s growing lungs.

3,000 schools across the UK are located in areas with illegally high levels of air pollution, according to a report by DEFRA, published last year. Yet very few schools have air pollution monitors around them.

We all have a duty to clean up the air we breathe, and I support the pupils and the British Lung Foundation's call for monitoring of pollution levels around schools.
