Hackney schools awarded arts honour

Local schools Gayhurst, Haggerston, Lauriston and Sebright have all been awarded the Arts Council England Artsmark award 2007.

The Artsmark award honours schools that have shown a commitment to the arts, giving pupils a range of arts opportunities in school time and out-of-hours and through external partnerships.

Meg said, ‘It is appropriate that Hackney schools have been given this award. Hackney has more artists than almost any other local area in Europe. Our schools are fostering the new young talent’.
