The Institute of visual art is an international jewel in Hackney.
Based in Rivington Place, off Rivington Street I first got to know Iniva when it was seeking new premises. These purpose built premises now house Iniva and Autograph ABP - the UK"Ÿs only agency focusing on promotion of photographers in Britain who are of African, Caribbean and South Asian origin.
Autograph is currently archiving a collection of 1970s photographs of British Caribbean life.
Iniva was established in 1994 to address an imbalance in the representation of culturally diverse artists, curators and writers. It hosts a library which includes programmes for exhibitions from around the world. The library is open to the public and the expert librarian can advise.
