Inquiry on the banking industry

On the 5 July the Commons voted on holding an inquiry into the banking industry.

My colleagues and I voted in favour of an independent, judge-led inquiry into the professionalism in the banking sector. However the Government favoured a parliamentary inquiry.

The issue was debated in the House of Commons and a majority voted in favour of a Parliament-led inquiry.

What’s most important is that the inquiry reports swiftly and that the banks are made to act.
