Kelly Report

Meg has welcomed the Sir Christopher Kelly report on Members' allowances.

Meg said "I warmly welcome Sir Christopher Kelly's recommendations for reform of the allowances system.

I have always provided receipts for every expenditure and had proper working and employment practices. It is right that a modern Parliament should follow best employment practice.

There are some parts of the role of an MP, particularly for those with far flung constituencies, which require specific support and I hope that this will be recognised in its implementation.

I would not want to see politics restricted to those who can afford it."
