Yesterday, I was pleased to launch a new forum for African, African-Caribbean and Asian Women in Politics in the House of Commons.
This group, ably led by Cllr Kate Anolue, aims to support women keen to get involved in politics. It will offer advice, training and mentoring in an effort to boost representation of women from these backgrounds in elected office and political life.
It is vital that our Parliament reflects the communities of the UK. And diversity and equal representation does not just happen - we need to make it happen and encourage women to run. Many have the skills and talents necessary and I pledge to work to make Parliament more representative.
