Meg met with local charity Family Action along with Action for Children and Children England to discuss support for vulnerable children, young people and their families in Hackney.
Meg attended the Smart Money event hosted by the three charities to look at effective early intervention services to tackle deep rooted problems such as deprivation and neglect before they spiral out of control.
Meg said, "Early intervention is crucial in creating brighter futures for disadvantaged children and families. It also helps make savings to the taxpayer in reduced social and welfare costs. Yesterday's budget showed that we need to work hard to support families in Hackney. Every child deserves the chance to succeed. Early support helps level the playing field for many children in Hackney."
The three charities are working together to make sure early intervention becomes the norm to break the cycles of deprivation that blight the lives of many in the UK. All three charities have a long-term commitment to making this happen.
