New one-stop website for health

A new one-stop website for health and healthcare has been launched today by the Department of Health. For the first time, patients can log on to find out information on hospital services, conditions and treatments, advice on healthy living and be able to share views with other patients.

The new website at www.nhs.uk enables users to compare services and waiting times at different hospitals and share their own experience. It also has an in depth library of conditions and procedures with information previously only available to clinicians.

In addition the website has helpful suggestions for a healthy lifestyle and an online health check.

Meg said, “Openness is very important in helping patients gauge how well their local services are working. This is a welcome step in keeping the public informed about their health service”.
