Review of Members’ allowances

The first report of the Members Estimate Committee led by Speaker Michael Martin into Members’ allowances has been published.

The committee has ruled that from the 1st April 2008, no claim of over £25 will be reimbursed without a receipt.

I very much welcome this ruling. Since my election in May 2005 I have always receipted for every purchase and office expense and will continue to do so.
