Tax Credits

The Government's tax credit cuts will hurt working families with children across the entire country.

In the run up to Christmas over 3 million families will receive the news that they are facing an average loss of £1,300. It is proof that this is a Government which is hurting working people. Labour have been campaigning tirelessly against this cut.

I voted for a motion that would have reversed the cuts during an opposition day debate, but unfortunately, even though some Conservative MPs are concerned, the Government defeated the motion. My Labour colleagues and I will continue to stand up for working people and call on the Government to scrap these changes.
