Meg's Weekly Round-Up: Friday 6 February

See above for my weekly round-up of what I’ve been up to in Hackney and Westminster.

This week:

  • I hosted a coffee morning for residents with the local police in Dalston.

  • I hosted a roundtable for Hackney restaurants to discuss the pressures in the hospitality industry.

  • The Bill to abolish the two-child benefit limit passed its first parliamentary hurdle. One-in-two Hackney children live in poverty after housing costs are taken into account and 60 per cent of families impacted by the limit are in work. Lifting the two-child benefit limit is the best and fastest way to clamp down on child poverty and support these families.
