It is vital that public transport is accessible. That is why I am pressing for Dalston Kingsland to be renovated to include step-free access so that both Hackney residents and visitors to our renowned Ridley Road market are able to use the station unimpeded. I have raised this matter with Ministers – see here.

As part of this campaign, along with Dalston Councillor Grace Adebayo I have begun a parliamentary petition advocating for a lift to be installed.

The full wording of the petition is as follows:

To the House of Commons,

The petition of residents of Hackney,

Declares that London Overground services should be accessible to all; further that services from Dalston Kingsland are currently inaccessible as there is no lift from the concourse to the platforms; and further that a lift should be installed to ensure step free access.

The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to recognise the need for a lift at Dalston Kingsland Station, and to work with Transport for London to reallocate funds to ensure that a lift is installed at the earliest possible opportunity.

If you want to add your name, you can print out the document below, sign it (it needs to be a "wet" signature, i.e. signed by hand), and then you can post it to my office:
