On Remembrance Sunday, I attended a special ceremony at the newly restored memorial in Stoke Newington to remember civilians who lost their lives in World War Two.
The importance of food banks in feeding the poorest people in this country is becoming more and more apparent.
On 12 October I was delighted to be asked to speak at the Africans Unite Against Child Abuse Summit on African families. AFRUCA is a charity promoting the rights and welfare of African children in the UK.
I am delighted to see that local social enterprise Fair Finance, has been awarded a Big Society Award by the Prime Minister.
On 4th November, I chaired a meeting organised by the APPG on Nigeria and UKTI. I welcolmed HE Babatunde Raji Fashola, State Governor of Lagos, to Parliament to discuss how to sustain the progress that has been made in the state since 2007.
