I’m continuing to receive an unprecedented number of emails supporting Black Lives Matter. Thank you. We need to turn this anger into action and I look forward to working with you on how to create lasting and meaningful change.
Baroness Doreen Lawrence has been asked to lead a review on the impact of COVID-19 in BAME communities here: https://labour.org.uk/review-into-the-impact-of-covid19-on-bame-communities/. Please feed in your experience so that we can press the Government to learn now what needs to be done to protect black, Asian, and minority ethnic people.
This week I challenged the Government over its failure to outline catch-up plans to support vulnerable pupils missing out on months of important education..
I also shared Hackney’s experience with the failings of the Government’s central test, track, and trace system. I received an assurance from the Minister responsible, Michael Gove, that he would raise this with the Joint Biosecurity Centre. I’m clear that there’s no safe way to return to any semblance of normality without a fully functioning and effective test, track, and trace system. I’ll keep pressing the Government on this.
