See above for my weekly round-up of what I’ve been up to in Hackney and Westminster.
Residents have repeatedly told me that their post regularly arrives weeks late and sometimes fails to arrive at all. This is not good enough. So I put these experiences to Royal Mail – who told me they’ll be implementing measures to tackle these delays. Please do keep sharing your experiences with me, and I’ll keep pressing on this.
It was a busy week for the Treasury Committee, where we heard from both the Governor of the Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority. And significantly, we held an appointment hearing for the new Chair of the Office for Budget Responsibility – the body that produces financial forecasts and evaluates Government performance, holding the Treasury to account.
I was pleased to attend the launch of the Kingsland Lifeline Hub. Delivered by Peter Bedford Housing Association and St Giles, the Hub supports residents facing food insecurity and isolation, as well as providing money management support and digital inclusion courses. To find out more about using the services or volunteering, you can email learn@peterbedford.org.uk or call 0203 815 4100. Or fill in this form to self-refer to the Pantry (for free and low cost food for those with food insecurity).
