My Weekly Round-up! Friday 6th November 2026
🏗️ Building skills, building futures! Last week I visited the Skills Centre in Hackney Wick, where people are gaining the practical, hands-on experience they need to get into construction. From the classroom straight into employment with local employers – opening doors, changing lives and helping build London’s future! 👷‍♀️
💷 Holding the Treasury to account. As Chair of the Treasury Select Committee, I questioned the Head of the Office for Budget Responsibility following last week’s Budget. There’s good news for Hackney residents, including Healey’s Hundreds: a £100 council tax rebate for eligible residents living in council properties in bands A–D, alongside other measures to support households and businesses.
🌹 Remembering those who gave so much. With Remembrance Sunday approaching, this week’s round-up comes from Parliament’s Remembrance Garden. Across Hackney and the country, communities will come together to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that future generations could enjoy the freedoms we have today. We will remember them.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
